Objectives of the Program:
- Promotion of astro-tourism in the region
- Public awareness of ISRO’s Moon mission (Chandrayaan-3)
- Astronomical science outreach
- Public engagement and interaction
- Preparation and sharing of good stargazing sites with the public
- Promotion of astro-tourism experiences among hotels, homestays, and campsites operating in and around the city
- Light pollution awareness
- Attraction of tourists interested in astrophotography in Uttarakhand
The session will focus on the region around the Chandrayaan-3 landing site (Shiv Shakti Point).
- Where Chandrayaan-3 landed
- Nearby prominent craters are used as reference points
- Why the Moon’s South Polar region is scientifically important
Using lunar maps and live telescope views, participants will be guided to understand:
It will be clearly explained that while the lander itself is too small to be seen, the surrounding region is visible and identifiable through the telescope.
